Is is my imagination, or does the SigTac Neck Knife by Sigarms Inc. look excatly like the Timberline Lightfoot Design Mini-Pitbull neck knife? :confused:

I would say that it is. Most gun companies that have knife lines have someone else make them. For example, H&K is having Benchmade make theirs.

I understand that, but the the little write up on it I saw, stated it was " Created with input from frontline officers, soldiers and others......" but gives no credit to Gred Lightfoot who designed the Mini-Pitbull for Timberline.

"with input from" ... right. Greg gets credit every time Timberline sells one of those exclusives to Sig. He gets paid! :D (At least I hope he does :eek: )

Hey Guys..

Haven't seen a picture of this knife yet...

Generally when you see a gun manufacturers name or logo on a knife,,it's usually a POS.. ie. Walther, S&W,Colt, Uzi, Hummer, ect...

However....

The new HK knives made by Benchmade, look pretty nice,,and if they are of the same or close to the same quality as Benchmade, then I have to rethink this rule of mine..

Hopefully Sig have put themselves behind a decent company, and are using the mini Pitbull instead of knocking it off...

Here is the Sigarms press release:

EXETER, NH - Jul 28, 2004 - SIGARMS® Inc. is proud to announce their new line of proprietary tactical knives for police, emergency services, military and civilian applications. Long known for the To-Hell-And-Back-Reliability™ of its SIG SAUER® line of pistols, SIGARMS has extended the same innovative design and manufacturing excellence to the new SigTac™ tactical knife series. Created with input from frontline officers, soldiers and others who use these important tools daily, there is no wasted line or component. Everything needed is there, and unnecessary clutter and hype is missing — exactly like the SIG SAUER duty pistols.

The SigTac Neck Knife dual carry-mode is becoming increasingly popular and for good reasons. There may be times when a folder isn’t the right option and SIGARMS’ new SigTac Neck Knife fits the bill. The 3 inch fixed blade is made of AUS 6 steel and is capable of tough work, but short enough for easy carry. The Kydex sheath can be worn around the neck or on the belt, should the need arise. A Teflon® coated blade keeps a low profile while effectively countering corrosion when worn close to the body. Available in a straight edge or with a 30-percent serration, the lanyard hole and over all length of only 6-9/16 inches makes the SigTac Neck Knife a compact handful for anyone needing a tough partner for the field.

“The rugged versatility of our SigTac Neck Knife makes it a perfect choice for in the field or on the job,” said Joe Lampke, product manager for the SigTac line of tactical gear and clothing.

Among the SigTac Neck Knife features are:

* Fixed blade design

* AUS 6, Teflon®-coated blade steel

* Straight or 30% serrated blade

* Kydex sheath (neck or belt fit options)

* Blade length: 3-inches

* Over all length: 6-9/16 inches

* Lanyard hole

Well, in the above press release they don't seem to mention Greg Lightfoot.

I wonder if Greg considers this a copy of his design?

Stay sharp,
Emanuel

Knife & sheath appear to be identical to the CRKT Lightfoot Mini-Pitbull, with the same steel - Bet the price goes up with the Sig-Tac label.

Thats what I was wondering ??? :eek:

Guys, it's customary in the industry that the manufacturer of a branded knife like that is not revealed. Sig is not going to say who manufactures the knife for obvious reasons -- and they won't etch on the blade in big letters
HEY EVERYBODY -- YOU CAN BUY THIS SAME KNIFE FOR LESS MONEY IF YOU GET IT DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER INSTEAD OF FROM US -- SO DON'T BUY IT FROM US, YOU'D BE WASTING YOUR MONEY....

They won't say who designed it either; that would amount to almost the same thing.

It's bad enough that us knife knuts can see at a glance what knife that is; they're not going to tell all the prospective customers who don't already know.

this is something, I saw the TK article and I had my pit bull on me, it is exact, right down to the (fragile!) sheath, handles, screws, blackened neck chain, everthing near as I can tell. Only difference from mine is color and mine is non serrated... Lightfoot must be getting royalties from Timberline right. Theft if he isn't?

uitlander....

That "fragile" sheath is easily replaced...

Not the best picture,, however it gives you somewhat of an idea..
Sheath comes with a g-clip for IWB or belt carry...

A huge improvement, with a wide variety of different secure carry options...

Since Greg Lightfoot's deal is with Timberline - and Timberline (Gatco) being the manufacturer of the Pitbull with a black coating and some markings, I am sure he still gets his royalties (or whatever mechanism he gets remunerated for his design).

Hey Eric..
It has been EDC'd for at least a month and really like it. Especially the clip that lets you take sheath on and off without undoing belt. bit of practice and it is real easy. I think you called it a "G-CLIP" on another thread.
Showed this one, micra keychain and delica necker to some friends at airshow this weekend and got much interest. trying to build commision points for next order.. :D
cheers

I'm baaaaaack! :D well been up to a lot of stuff-but let's get to what's important KNIVES!

I got a nice little Sigtac neck knife last month straight edge,cute little bugger! I've found it's a great edc knife,done everything with it from opening boxes to cutting some meat.I must say it's one sharp little sucker! btw what's the scales made of? I keep mine 'round my neck.

As to price I paid $59.95+tax (six percent here in West Virginia)
