are there any knives that are just way to silent that you can flick out? im driving my family nuts fondling the para 2, cryo and manix.. i guess this is really a locking mechanism question, maby knife size has its importance in here too. thanks!

It's not as much of the locking mechanism as you may assume. Much of the noise comes from the blades hitting whatever stopping mechanism is in place. In the case of the knives you've described, the stop pins. You're accelerating the blade towards an immediate stop, and the metal clacks together.

The act of flicking is what causes most of the noise. The lock is a bit quieter, so slowly opening will help, but that's not any fun.

My Snody friction folder makes absolutely no noise when opening and closing... because it doesn't actually have a lock mechanism.

I've personally never understood why people use a knife as a set of worry stones/prayer beads.

haha! me ether.. i just found myself using it as that when im not cutting with it. its quite weird actually. maby i have ADHD
