What grit SiC are you looking for? I may have it from old stock.

Thanks Sing...35,

I guess I came in on the tail end of something - sound like the compounds are to be used with something very specific that I'm not aware of.

Funny thing is that I checked and don't have 80 grit, have everything from 150 to 1200. If there's a market for 80 grit maybe somebody can let me know, the prices I've seen on this post are kind of nuts, shouldn't be that expensive.

It seems that I was the one who made the wrong assumption. I thought it was for lapping edge pro stones.

Brownells also turns out to have 5# containers of aluminum oxide media in several different grits (discovered today by accident). You'll have to call their CS # to get the actual grits, though.

Have you checked McMasterCarr? I just looked at their site and they have a wide variety of abrasives. SiC abrasives they range from 16 -1000 grit.

Check MSC Industrial too, they are another place like McmasterCarr. Do a search on lapping compounds, that should get you there.

Years ago I had a catalog (before Al Gore invented the Internet) for an abrasives company. As I was looking though it, I checked the prices. they had prices for 5lb. samples up to rail car sized quantities.
