Hi all

I recently picked up a Ontario rat 1 and i think its great! im currently searching the web for a new folder. I don't want to spend more than $300

I really like knifes that open really smooth and perhaps utilize a ball being. let me know what you guys think are some good folders because ive been looking at the spyderco paramiltary 2 or the Reel steel Megalodon

Any and all help is appreciated

Thanks, Bnum :)

Check out Reate. Their products are well within your price range, feature excellent action and, by all reports, are very well made.

I haven't experienced Reate yet, but all I've heard is good things.

From experience, I'd recomend the ZT 0562 or the 0562Cf, they flip great and are super smooth.

Reate, Spyderco Domino, Spyderco Gayle Bradley, ZT 0562, If you look around you can find a ZT 0560CBCF for around $300.

You can't go wrong with the PM2. I carried one 5-6 days a week for work for the last year in the trades.
Before that I used a ZT 550 for a year which is another great choice.
I have a ZT 562CF wich is also very smooth but I haven't carried it yet.

Anyone know how to pronounce Reate?
Only seen it written and not spoken so in my head in rhymes with treat.
Might be pronounced like create without the "c" but that doesnt have as good a ring to it.

OP, for a silky smooth knife either an Axis lock or something with bearings.

Reate, Kizer. Anything Chris Reeve, hard to find under $300 tho. TAD Dauntless Mk3 or Mk4. Spyderco Rubicon. CKF Daboia is my current fave. Benchmade Griptilian with custom scales are crazy smooth. On the cheaper end the Kershaw Skyline and Strobe are nuts.

There's lots that fit your definition.

Just handled a 0562CF about an hour ago. It was really smooth and felt great in the hand. $300 on the dot at the gun store. Cheaper elsewhere online, if you can find it.

Or anything with an axis lock.

Anyone know how to pronounce Reate?
I've gotten the impression it is Re-ah-The, since they spell it with a capitol T.
Anyways yeah the hills I have is pretty smooth, but a well done bushing system is still my favorite. My vote is for the PM2. You might even be able to find a nice sprint run for that kind of cash.

My Benchmade 950 Rift is super smooth, just a good wrist flick will open it without using the thumb stud.

If you want a bearing system, check out Guardian Tactical. Their Helix and Patron folders are about the smoothest opening knives I've come across.
