I glued the left scale on the right side and right on the left!! Dang, that's frustrating. Bolsters are tapered at 33 degrees, so the scale goes over the bolster moving the line too far forward. Looks ridiculous.
Guess I have another test knife....I should be really good at testing!!!

Thanks, it feels pretty good. Didn't even realize I did it until I started shaping it.

Dont you just HATE!! this kind of mistake! I have done similar, multiple times🙄😒
A non knifenut will not even notice, but when its a piece you made, everytime you pick it up, or look at it it just makes you angry!!! A perfectly "functional" knife that is "useless, worthless, a bane of my existense, a stain on my creative soul, an ABOMINATION, THE REASON I AM A CRAP.......deep breaths, in....out...in...out...
Like you said a test piece😉 yes a test piece?!...breathe...breathe
But it's fair dinkum, infurating! Isn't it!?
I feel ya mate😏

Could you rehandle it......if it's bugging ya?

I could, I just hate going backwards. I'd rather just start a new project. It's a little time and about 5 bucks worth of steel.

That would be the smart thing to do...

That's a beautiful looking mistake! :)
Looks like a knife I'd be happy to take into the woods.
pm me your address....if it makes somebody happy it makes me happy. You can have it. You'll need a sheath for it, but I'll put an edge on it, throw it in box and ship it to you if you want it. It's 15n20, I got the ht down pretty dang good. I will tell you, once i realized the mistake, I didn't finish the handle like a normally would, but was far enough into it that i went ahead and made it useful. Let me know if you want it.

Thank you for an amazing gesture of generosity!
Truly fits the spirit of the season. :)

Use a heat gun on the scales and they will usually come off with a slight tap of your hammer.

What an outstanding thing to do. Kudos to you. I think you're being too critical of yourself as artists often are..had you not said anything I wouldn't have known there was anything wrong with the knife.

Probably, but you'd know if you saw it in person. I don't like working backwards so I would have never fixed it. It's in a better place now....and I got a couple more in the oven!!!

Was hoping you'd have it for Christmas. I'm in Montana for crying out loud, Canada isn't too far...I could probably hit your house with a snow ball!! Maybe I should have just tossed it to you....no sheath though...that's a little dangerous.

Watching the initial tracking, I thought it would make it!
Then it seems Customs took an early holiday or something.
It finally cleared Customs yesterday, but Canada Post took yesterday and today as delivery holidays. :D
Should be here soon though.

If you had tossed it here, even with no sheath I'd be fine, since we played lawn darts as kids.
We played the way that got them banned, where you'd throw them as high as you could then dodge them on the way down.
Good training for knife deliveries from the sky. ;)

Dang man...the things we used to and survived...scary now that I got my own kids.
