Maybe not that silly but I got stuck.

What's are types (all factors) of stainless steel used in plethora of cutlery products ?
Not only cutlery - all of stuff.
My decades old knowledge shows that cheapest and most ordinary stainless steel is 420
But there is a lot (A LOT) of no name stainless steel !!!
Much cheaper and big majority (bolsheviks)
What kind of stainless steel they use ?
I think much cheaper, inferior than 420
Names, data, anything, please.

Sorry for my EFL (English as a Fourth Language :^)

I'll take a silly guess and go with 304.

I'll halve your 304 carbon level of 0.07% and go 304L (0.03% carbon)

430 might actually be a cheaper option though, no nickle, at 0.08% would still be horrible for a knife steel...

To the OP, There are so many different stainless steels out there, hundreds if not thousands of soft & pliable stainless steels used in manufacturing everything from cookie sheets, to car exhausts, to construction of buildings, none of which would be suitable for a knife, since their goal is the opposite of knife/tool steels which have to achieve an adequate hardness to hold an edge, but rather they remain as soft and flexible and stainless as possible...

My flatware is made of 304 stainless (18/10, with 18% chromium and 10% nickel).
My old pots are the same.
But never saw any markings on standard or sub-standard knives since decades,
basically not even once ...
Maybe manufacturers are simply ashamed.
STAINLESS ruless

They're not actually marked, but I went to the online product listing and it was listed there.

300 series stainless is not suitable for making knives. If it is cheaper than 420 than it is probably also not suitable for a knife blade.

in the not so much knives but all stuff question. 300 and 400 series stainless steels i see listed across the board very often.

300 series stainless is more expensive than 420. All of that nickel in the steel isn’t free.
