just had to ask...why fixed and folders are combined on this sub-forum? just my limited experience but it seems folks tend to prefer collecting folders or fixed blades and tho each camp may pick up one now and then from the other...more often for trading fodder. even tho i do keep some of the more interesting folders i stumble upon...my passion are fixed blade knives-the older the better.
anyways, just wondering

Not silly, it is true, although nice old fixed blade knives come up for discussion. I think more members have more old slip joint folders here, but any knife shown will get due attention. I'll bet most regulars here would love to see some of your old fixed blades. Thanks Black Mamba for pointer to existing thread.

It's not so much a fixed or folding forum as much as it is a traditional forum. Regardless of whether it folds or not, if it is traditional, it's all good.

There's a great fixed blade thread right here on the first page of Traditional, started by sunnyd (Anthony), with over 600 posts. I'd say many of the "regulars" here in Traditional appreciate both folders and fixed blades, although folders are in greater numbers.

With the great guys and gals here on this subforum, anything truly traditional will be well received, and a great amount of solid information will be forthcoming. I'd say this was a very GOOD question.

I only have one fixed blade, an old Gerber MK2. My dad gave it to me on my 7th birthday. Not something I have carried much, but I could never part with it. My dad was a more tactical type person for whom knives were more a weapon than a tool (though I've known him to use his daggers as pry bars). I guess I take more after his father, for whom knives were a working tool. My grandfather's little folders are what got me into this, I guess, though my dad taught me how to keep knives sharp. Rambling here.

We all love pics so why don't you start sharing those. No question is silly/dumb. Even a genius ask questions. Its how the human mind learns.
