Silva Braille compass ?????????

From a Website:

The special aluminum compass card floats freely when the lid closed, allowing the arrow to always point North. Opening the lid locks the aluminum card in place, making it possible to "read" the braille characters without disturbing the compass orientation. Dial graduations are raised for touch orientation with North as an Arrow, East, South and West by Braille letters. Inter-cardinal points are shown with raised dots.

I guess you wouldn't need a luminous dial on your compass if you could train yourself to read a few worlds in brail. Of course, this option might actually be more expensive then buying a compass with a luminous dial in the first place.

Think about it these terms. For those that have extreme farsighteness that cannot focus on close objects but can see things in the distance without issue. They can see where they are going and even enjoy the scenery just like "normal" people - but have a bear of a time seeing the compass.

This way they can feel it and move about just like the normal sighted.

Well, since you put it that way..............

I remember seeing one of these when I was a kid. You don't need to read Braille to use them. All you need to do is feel for that North pointer and you should know where East, West and South are.
