Any body out there know where I can but this compass? I can't seem to find a dealer in the states who sells it. I even asked Silva with no reply? Any help would be great.

To my knowledge, there is one Italian geology products site that will sell the Silva Mk IV to U.S. customers, but as I recall, the price was pretty hefty. I don't remember the address off-hand.

WTF,
I'm not sure if this is the place Jeb was referring to, but here's a link to an Italian company that has the Mk IV:
http://www.geoenv.it/store/strumen/compass.htm

Some of the other compasses featured on that page look pretty solid as well. BTW, the 374,000 lire price tag translates to $170 at today's exchange rate. Of course, shipping charges would be more, assuming they would sell to you in the first place.

Here's another link to a US company that carries the Eschenbach compasses:

You may also want to take a look at the Suunto KS-14 pictured further down the page (item D). I've been dragging one of these through the woods with me for a few years and it's proven to be a very durable little compass. I can't say as I've really relied on it solely for any extended land navigation exercises (it's served more as a backup to my GPS), but it does seem to be a solidly built, quality compass.

Yep, that's the site. Be sure to tell them how you want your compass scale marked - in degrees, grads or mils.
