Silver Contrast Umnumzaan

I've been tidying up gunsafes and found my old CRK collection. I came across this one and wondered if anyone would know the origin? There was no card in the box so it's likely I don't have one. I'm guessing the decoration was not done by CRK, but if that's the case I'm surprised I bought it. Any information appreciated.

I have several 2003/2004/2005 Wood knives I'll likely sell as I'm now thinking of setting up a display cabinet. What is a fair price for single & pair 'Wood' editions?

I hope this does not re-ignite the obsession. I always wanted a set of Kathathu and a BG42 flat ground Sebenza prototype, but I'm sure they are even more difficult to obtain now.

Thanks,
/Mark.

I've never seen a UG on an umnumzaan, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't have been attempted. The box does state "silver contrast," which I wouldn't expect to see....so who knows.....

As for the 2003/2004/2005 wood knives, I supposed the value would depend on a handful of things. Do you have box/papers for each? Are they in NOS condition, lightly used condition, or used? What types of wood are they? Are they the Classic version, or full grain Annuals?

Hi Ganagati,

The Sebensa's are the 'Annual Wood' versions and NIB. Never carried or used. All papers and boxes complete. Mostly large/small pairs from the same year, or are rarer (at the time) wood.

Thanks for the feedback.

I would think the Umnumzaan was a custom order from someone done by CRK. You can send them a pic to see if anyone remembers it. As unusual as it is, someone at CRK may remember it.
Depending on the combination of the annuals, from what I've seen here on the exchange, the pricing starts at around 800.00 and goes up.
It just depends on how fast you want to move them. The cheaper the faster ;)

Can you take some larger pics of the Umnumzaan? Inside the scales of the date code would help to identify the year it was made.
CRK wouldn't have done the silver contrast as a custom order on models that don't normally received treatments like that from what I know..It could have been for an employee, friend of the family etc. That would explain why there is no birthcard.

Pics of the annuals would help for evaluation, but as Ajack60 Ajack60 stated, they have been around $800+ depending on size, wood and blade options.

IMG_0238-1.JPG Thanks for the interest. I'll try to sort out the 'Annuals' this week and contact those who have already expressed an interest.

The Umnamzaan has A 08 stamped inside the scale. I've attached a couple of better photos

So it's a very early Zaan. The design is a lot like a couple reverse silver UG's I've seen, probably from close to the same time.

Very interesting Umnumzaan. Looks legit. In all honesty, I don't care for the blend of the artistic engraving Vs the utilitarian cross hatching of the standard Umnumzaan grip, but as a curiosity, it certainly rates high. I can imagine why they only did this one. Chris probably looked at it and said to Lisa "never again".
