Hello everyone,
I have an old dinner knife I ground into a shape to use for opening folding knives -- often called a "knife nick" among other things. I used a dinner knife with an ivory handle, which has a few cracks in it. I'd like to inlay some silver in these cracks to dress it up a little. Does anyone out these know how this is done? I plan on using either some old,pre 1960 damaged quarters or some old, odd ball forks and spoons as my silver source.
Should I cold forge or melt the silver with a propane torch?
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
