Silverfire Scout Stove

This is all a guess from me, but I would suspect that you will be getting a lower grade of steel with the chinese version. I know wood-gas stoves are reasonably popular among their users here, and many of those are DIY units, so that might be an option if you are looking to go on the cheap.

What sort of use did you have planned for it? backup cooking at home? hiking? that will help the guys who know guide to you a useful size.

Hi gadgetgeek,

The Silverfire is also made in China. My use would be for my BOB.

If I'm looking at the correct one for $52 you can get a trangia stove and a canteenshop bottle stove for less.

You then have then option of using alchohol or any other flammable material you like.

An Emberlit Fireant burns chips, folds up, fits in your pocket.

There's a fancier stove with more parts for more money. I can't see the advantage.
