We recently took a group of youth to Gatlinburg for a retreat.
While there, I took the opportunity to bring T-bic the wonder boy (my youngest) to Smokey Mountain. My dad literally has thousands of knives from here over the last thirty years or so and I had never been
Anyways while there I bought T-bic a nice Buck with florescent orange handle. His pick, nice knife.
We get back to the hotel and he wants to show it to one of the ladys on the trip with us. Trust fund lady, quite attractive early fifties really sweet as she can be. Fifth generation to some oil fortune I've been told.
Her first words were.."WOW a weapon"
I just politely responded.."that is one way to see it"
She later asked me what I meant because her 15 year old was wanting his first knife. I explained it's a tool first and only a weapon if indeed needed.
She took the kid and got him his first knife and fortunately the folks at SMKW directed them appropriately to a nice Buck camping knife.
Man, I won a friend for life with that KID. Not sure mom is happy with me, but she was gracious as always.
