Hello,

I'm a 14 year old kid from The Netherlands.
Next summer I'm going on a survival with my brother in the Belgian Ardennes.
I have a Inova Inforce waterproof box, in the box I've got:
- A mirror
-Victorinox Multitool
-Victorinox Climber
-Fenix TK15
-A Sewing kit
-Some tinder for making fire (scraps of wood,Cotton)

Do you have some mor stuff to take with me?
I have An ESEE 3
So the knifes aren't the problem:)

Thanks:)

Go spend a couple of hours in your back yard some night when it is cold and rainy. Think about what you wish you had with you: poncho, fire, water, etc. Then put that in your kit.

A small spade with one edge sharpened. Never know when you may need to dig, or chop at anything. Also useful in case the Germans decide to mount another offensive through Belgium!

Toilet tissue! Never can have enough, and makes for great tinder (when dry).

Small LED-based clip-on lights is useful for lighting up the night. Small, cheap and hours of light.

Yeah, toilet tissue... Take out the cylinder and compress it to fit more.
A trusty lighter such as a BIC
550 Paracord on the bag, on your wrist

A good and cheap thing to take is plastic lawn and leaf bags. Take a few of them. Put one in your pocket. You can fill them with leaves for a bed/blanket, wear them as a poncho, or cut down two sides and unfold it to act as a tarp. I have a lot of pricey gear but these still find there way into my kit. Have fun.

Holy Crap! (pun intended?)

If you are planning on a recreational camping/hiking trip, then also a cell phone, GPS, cash, and beer.

If you are going to practice survival....then a Vic Classic and nothing else. In all seriousness. It's not practice if it's easy. That's like practicing for a marathon by walking to the corner.

And I 'd prepare by getting more stuff in your head! :D Since you hadn't included something to start fires with and toilet paper (or baby wipes) in your kit, you might have some learning to do!

The sub-sub-forums in the "The Great Outdoors" sub-forum here would be a great place to get some of that learning done.

Enjoy the Ardennes!

Three different ways to light a fire, and don't keep them all in the same place. You don't want to drop your bag in the river and watch everything you have with you disappear downstream. Ferro rods, Bic lighter, matches. Dryer lint makes great tinder wiped with a little Vasoline, weighs nothing and is free.
