(Yes, I have used Search ;) )

When I click on my browser shortcut on my Desktop, it opens in a 50% size window. What do I have to do to make it open maximized each time?

(and yes, when I hear the simple solution I _WILL_ kick myself)

TIA :)

Just like alot of other windows, if you close your browser that way it will open like that next time.. If you close it maximised it will open maximised the next time you open it. Thats the way it is with me anyway, and I just double checked it :)

Well not always true. Sometimes they decide to not open back at the size you last left it, don't ask me why. If you manually resize the window it will generally work out like that, but not so if you use the maximize button.

One trick to use is to maximize the window and then close it by using File..Exit rather than clicking on the close button in the upper right. Also try opening two IE instances, then maximize them both. Close the first one opened by clicking the close button, and the other by using File...Exit.

Amen to that. I've tried everything that MY meagre computer knowledge base contains - including, of course, closing it while it's maximized and expecting it to OPEN maximized. No such luck.

Thanks. Will keep trying to figure this out.

Expand the normal window (by dragging the edges with your mouse) until it fills the full screen.

Assuming IE/Windows:

Right-click the icon on your desktop, select "Properties", click on the "Shortcut" tab, and set "Run:" from "Normal Window" to "Maximized". If I'm not mistaken, this will open IE in full-screen mode every time you run it from this icon.

Hope this helps! :)

I don't like running any unnecessary programs, but this one is worth it. It is a small program that gives you several options to maximize windows; it even differentiates between pop-ups and the good stuff.

I think it is a reputable company, I have not had any problems with it. It comes highly recommended from PCWorld and others.

YMMV.........

Switch to Mozilla Firefox and you'll never ever go back to IE,and it handles popups etc. a lot better too!
Tabbed Browsing means you open one instance of Firefox and then open as many windows in it as you want,no more 20 instances of IE running together!
And that is only one of the benefits.I'll admit it has some issues, even security issues, but it still got IE beat hands down!
