Simple Mosaic Pins

Here is a method I like to use that maybe someone else can get some use out of. First you need 2 fired .22 magnum cases, some 3/32" rod and some 1/16" rod and some epoxy (colored if you like). Cut 2 pieces of 3/32" rod and 16 (if i remember correctly) pieces of 1/16" rod slightly longer than the case. Fill the case about 1/2 full of epoxy and insert the pins. Put the 3/32" in the middle and suround it with the 1/16" pins. Mash the pins in and the epoxy will be forced up between the pins. Watch out or the pins will back out because of the pressure inside the case so hold them for a few seconds. Wipe up all the gooey mess you made and let the epoxy cure. These fit perfectly in a 1/4" hole. Epoxy them in the scales and grind the ends off and you have "flower" mosaic pins that look real nice and you don't have to tell anyone that they only took you five minutes. I like to vary the pins using stainless, copper and brass rods. Hope this helps someone.

I need to go scrounging around the target pit in the woods! I guess various sized casings would also make great thong hole liners also!

You can see some of these pins at the following address <a href="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=875252&a=6373014">
See photos of some of my at PhotoPoint</a>

Again please excuse the photo and scan qualitys. The blemishes are not on the knives. Please feel free to comment or criticize these knives as that is the best way for me to better my work.

L6, I wish I could say these pins were my invention too. Also I had a good friend/teacher who spent alot of his time coaching me and letting me use his stuff so that my first knife (which is pictured slightly used) would be as nice as I was able to make it.
