This would work a lot better with snare wire but I hadn't planned on making one so just had the cordage that was with my knife !

Anyway this is all ya really need:

Managed to rig it up with minimal disruption from the dogs this time !

A close up of the trigger( If ya have a knife this can be shaved down to make it as sensitive as you want):

Today I had with me my two most used knives, for some reason I nearly always gravitate towards these two ! This might change in May though as I'm having two more knives made in these size ranges so they will have some serious competition !

Check out the delicate fuzzy that the ML made...

Tried to resist lighting it but the temptation was too great !

We passsed a lily pond on the trail:

Awesome pics as always Pit!

I understand where you're coming from here...but...are you sure you didn't use a knife? That one stick sure looks like you whittled on it :p

Good looking fuzz sticks!

.

Again great pics. Refresh my memory tho, what's the specs on those two knives?

Errm...cough...would ya believe it snapped like that !:o

In reality it would have gone in the ground without the point, I just got carried away !

can you explain the trigger on that trap???

Sorry... but I don't really get the trap...
To me, it looks just like a regular snare...

It is a regular snare but instead of cutting notches it just uses the natural branch off shoots !

Great post, Pit. I enjoy reading and seeing pics of your outings. I've yet to make one of those massive fatwood torches but that's on my list of things to do as is this snare.

Thanks for sharing, my friend.

Great post. I have made several of these and they are are cool traps as long as you have some semi-strong springy saplings around. I have used tree limbs to some affect as well.
