Took another day before I have to hit it on the weekends working on knives again.
Went back to South Mountain Park here in NC.
I am liking the Mystery Ranch Crew Cab! Its not the easiest to get into and out of but the compartments and options to carry what you can throw at it are too good to let a few extra movements to get into and out of turn you off.
In the main compartment a simple first aid kit, flashlight, handy wipes, plastic bags stashed away, and cleanex for my kid. In one long pocket I have my raincoat stuffed in with a 32oz nalgene on top of it and the other long pocket my daughters raincoat and a 18oz kleen kanteen ontop.
I really like the daypack lid as it adds 900ci thats simple to get into and out of devided into 2 compartments. In 1 I have our food bag stuffed in and the other I have the small tripod and binos in. I have a Camera in a padded side pocket and a 14oz nalgene hanging from right side of pack belt.
My daughter has 16oz nalgene and a few stuffed animals in her pink sack.
I am being told to hurry up!!
Lucked out finding a decent stick that needed shortening up to fit her.
The old UBOB worked very well on that stick
Casey does very well for a 5 year old. Today we went up pretty steep terrain for almost 3/4 of a mile.
Almost made it .75 miles up to first stop.
We never made it much farther up but no problem!! doing it together is the reason and not the destination.
Here is my answer to not being able to wear a belt knife with a pack belt on. Para Cord loop and in front pocket. I really like this method for kicking around town also.
Casey says one more picture and we will head back down. Im the subject this time!!
Back down we throw many rocks in the stream. Spot fish and just enjoy not walking
More rest for the trouper!!
We did really well. She is 5 1/2 and we hiked around from about 10-3. Not bad for a small afternoon.
One thing that makes it easier is me having a pack that allows me stuffing her stuff in with mine and mine staying organized
Crew Cab swallowing pink sack with stuffed animals and a nalgene
She did want it back on for some reason later on. And we wet our bandanas to make the heat a tad more bearable.
Great mid day for a Dad and Daughter!!
Driving out a great close up of a hawk.
And not too long after the Hawk its LIGHTS OUT!!!
