I was asked by a friend from highschool if I would donate a knife or a sheath to an old classmate. He is having trouble paying for his medical bills due to Leukemia. I was happy to - and after some talk - we settled on simple - tried and true.

I had a Buck Squire laying around (unused) so I sharpened and honed it to 4000 grit (25 degree inclusive) and made a sheath for it.

5-6 ounce leather - Montana Pitch Blend - fits 2" belt. Design is straight from Al Stohlman himself ;)

Fun little project for a nice little knife.

It isn't quite dry in these photo's - the Montana Pitch Blend is still curing. THe stitches an the like look a little dark - but it will lighten up by tomorrow! ;)

Nice idea and generous of you indeed! Glad to see your shoulder is better too.

Schmittie - thanks for the words - it is not 100% - After making this small sheath - it was ACHING - but at least I can use it - and at this point - I need to use it - as to rehab it. I just don't need to over do it.

I need to post a picture now that it is dry - the stitching looks worlds better. It still had some MPB in the stitching.

Talfuchre. I got some Montana Pitch Blend based on some of your comments on the product. I have used it on two pair of WWII Hungarian ammo pouters, and wonder how long does it take to cure? Thanks. John

About three days to TOTALLY cure. Wipe the excess off - and just give the whole sheath time to dry. If you live in a dry climate - probably only a day.
