tonights dinner:
green/yellow split pea & ham stew, with garlic and onions, salt/pepper/paprika. A simple recipe, that i use BOTH in the camp and at home. Best cooked in a cast iron dutch oven, SLOOOOOOOOWLY all day long while your out fishing or hunting.
Emerson Police Utility Knife (PUK) slaying the ham, garlic and onions:
browning honey roasted ham cubes in First Press olive oil my 100 year old cast iron pot:
adding the garlic and onions, check out the golden brown honey ham
adding Pilsner beer to break the glaze and make a nice rich broth
adding split green and yellow peas and water (i sometimes add RED LENTILS too, for a great color and taste)
about to simmer for 10 hours........
