AWESOME KNIFE!

About 6 months ago I got a BK2 from Jeff S1 here on the forums in trade. Up til last Friday I just handled it and messed with it. Well Friday comes and the wife and i decide that we are going to have some drinks around the table (which has a firepit in it). Being in a metro area, i didnt have any wood to gather persay so, i got a bundle of seasoned hickory from the local home depot. The logs were way to big to get a fire started so, i had an idea....baton it w/ the BK2! I batoned 2 of the logs completely in half then in smaller pieces w/ the BK2 and another log as a beater. Again, this was seasoned hickory so it gave me quite a work out. On the final strike of the last log I hit a hidden rock... ....My stones are still in storage in the attic so, i got another idea...I am sitting on a big slab of concrete...use it to sharpen the BK2...so i did. Took out the edge damage in no time and i stropped it to hair shaving sharp on a piece of cardboard that had blown into the yard (lots of construction in a new neighborhood). The Becker got a work out that night and came out like a champ. I would have NO problem taking this as the only tool in a real camping/wilderness situation. Thank you Mr. Becker for such a fine piece of MASSIVE steel!

Also in the Becker forum

Only got a small blister w/ about 30 mins worth of batoning/chopping...not bad IMO for my un calloused hands.

Cool man, that knife is a tank. I think the bk2, glocks, cockroaches, and twinkies will be the only things to survive armageddon.

You know, you can break a BK-2. Just put it on the railroad track and wait for a train to come by. Oops... another derailed train. BK-2's just fine, though. Can anything hurt one of these things? Maybe not.

Did more damage to the hidden rock (big rock) than the edge..

I have never had a BK2. but I've had the BK7 and BK9. They are both only 3/16 think and as tough as they are I can only imagine the toughness of the shorter BK2 in the 1/4" 1095 CV. It probably will survive armageddon.

The BK2 is a pretty cool blade. It is one of those knifes that feel like they are indestructible.

Really, Mist? Out of all the knives you've had, you've never tried a BK-2? You owe it to yourself to have at least one. It's actually a better chopper than the BK-7 (IMHO) and feels really good in the hand. It may be a little heavy to some people, but it has really good balance, so you hardly notice the weight.

Yep, it's tough and virtually indestructible. Give one a try.

I wonder how the new Condor Rowden would stack up in that category? Anyone have both?

I don't know, Jim, but it's on my very short list of knives to get when I get some money. Once I do, which may take awhile, I'll do a head to head comparison.

You already have a Rodan, don't you? How do you like it so far?

I have not taken time yet to try it out good. It seems like a tough chunk of steel. I have quite a few of the older Condors and they have all been more than worth the money, Love the old Aztec Cleaver.

I've yet to get my first Condor, but both the Rodan and the bolo machete are on my list.
