I've realized the importance of knives and multi-tools. When i was living at home i had an over abundance of tools and kitchenware at my fingertips. Now i just have my knives, my tools and a few extras. I've realized when and where i really need a knife and which knife i need. I carry a benchmade griptilian, victorinox swisstool & swisschamp and my bicycle tool which has hex wrenches on it on my belt. Around the house ill use a frosts or something. Just wanted to share! I always looked at people who used a pocket knife for food weird until now lol.

It wasn't until I moved into a real house with a mortgage that I realized I was very short on tools. I've since bought plenty of tools, and power tools, but I find that the one that still gets the most use around the house is my Victorinox Swiss Tool and the knife in my pocket at the time.

I swear, that one tool does 95% of the work that needs done on the ever-growing Honey-Do list.

Favorite pocket knife for food prep: Microtech LCC D/A.

My Leatherman Wave has definitely been the most useful tool around the house over the years.

i use an eye brand for mail & boxes[muskrat] keep a sodbuster in kitchen for many tasks.usually go to murray carter for extensive vege work.

I keep a Victorinox Explorer in my pocket from the time I wake up in the morning until I'm ready for bed. I don't have as many cutting tasks as I would like day-to-day but never having to run and find a screwdriver or pair of scissors is great.

I got the girlfriend to carry her alox classic SD and she uses it even when she can tear whatever it is open lol.

Since getting into knife collecting, I've always had more blades than I need, both around the house and on my person. I could give up knife collecting if I needed to, but I could never go back to not carrying any of these useful tools. I will ALWAYS carry a Leatherman Charge/Wave, and at least one dedicated, quality knife. Other knives and tools (scissors, kitchen knives, screw drivers, etc.) may be able to do things just as well (if not better), but given how often those other tools aren't around, a multi-tool and a knife will get you through life just fine...

I have my SAK, and a couple of Gerber multi-tools, and they handle most of my light to medium work around here. Add a medium-sized hammer, a small hacksaw, and duct tape, I'm pretty much set for most jobs.

The best household tool is one of those "4 bit" flippable shaft screw drivers. $5 at any hardware store, and I use mine constantly.

Yup - - forgot about that one. I also have a beat up ol' nasty 12" long, dirty, flat-blade screwdriver, for digging, poking, prying, rough chiseling, etc.

It's funny - I have a garage full of tools, and around the house, I use maybe six or seven that all do multiple jobs very well.
