since it seems knives are too dangerous for normal folks to own (as opposed to cars), i have been seriously thinking about getting a nice, big, solid, heavy pen to use as an impact device a la a Kubotan / Yawara stick. anyone have any suggestions?

thanks ...

p.s. i currently carry a Delta Z 360* executive which i think is FANTASTIC. so something along the same size / weight would be pretty nice, as a ball point with a removveable car ...

Some LEOs like to carry cross pens because of the all metal construction and pointed ends. Besides the standard size there is also a heftier (larger barrel) model which is probably better suited for those with large hands.

Here's the original link to the original Ti Pen Thread

I would love to have an "assault pen"- heavy duty metal construction, retractable, of course. Also I would like to see one made with a non-metallic yet heavy-duty material for the day when "metallic pens" are banned by the US Government.

I posted this a year ago as a joke, but ... who knows?

FORGET ALL KNIVES
Hi Gentlemen -

as knives will be outlawed soon (see CRKT) we should forget them!

So i am going to buy a small chainsaw with a big accupack. Any holsters recommended?

How about a new forum: the fighting/defence Cottonbag! would you fill it with a glass of onions or 2 cans of beans ??

Stay cool collectors there will be handmade or semicustom bags also! Your child could paint one.

Hi exgunners! OK: Magnum version with 3 to 4 cans of beans for sale soon, if not restricted. Got your CCP from the UN ? Realy ?? you are the one winner this year???
You know a special permit is needed for throwing-cans over 10 gramm from the CIA + NASA + KGB!

Best wishes - -

The Rotring 600 fountain pen is often referred to (half-jokingly) as a weapon on the pens newsgroup. Solid brass body and very firm nib. You'd probably have to get it at Levenger's (at least the cheaper steel nibbed version).

If you carry a briefcase or backpack a 3c or 4c Maglight will give you a solid hand full of innocent looking whupass. For pocket carry a Minimag is better than nothing. Brigade Quartermasters used to sell a solid brass extension for the Minimag that gave in the length and appearance of a 3 cell light. I think it was called the Enhancer and it gives you extra reach and extra whump when held by the head (light) end.

I have been looking to get one of these. How does it work as a kubaton? Hows the length and weight? Thanks. -Lev

Particularly for use on an airplane a tightly rolled magazine is handy and effective. It is much larger than a pen.

Remember those el cheapo Bic pens with the clear plastic tube? Something over 20 years ago I worked as a bartender/bouncer in a bar and I saw a jealous young gal plant one in her boyfriend's neck. alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

I would like to see a high strength compact umbrella that would have sufficient heft for strikes and parries, and a strong, hard tip for thrusts. I'm not sure how well effective a blow would be with the umbrella material wrapped around it, but it could be used to deflect a blade.

You may want to look into a carbide marking pen. I have one, about the same dimensions as a cheapo Bic pen, aluminum body w/ sharp carbide point. Would make an effective weapon. I use mine for marking my toys (can easily sratch your name onto just about anything :) ) I actually made one by taking the barrel of a bic biro pen, and then inserting the body of a cheap plastic bolt for a pistol crossbow, allowing only the steel field point head to show, and fixing it in place w/ some epoxy. Original pen cap works fine to cover it. Cost about 50 cents to make :)

Geez, I love some of these ideas. Before you know it, the FAA will be mandating checking your clothes at the security checkpoint, and fly in the nude. Look at the bright side, though: lots of new members to the mile-high club.

Seriously, though, I like the idea of a couple of cans of beans in a bag.

Jeff Clark astutely pointed out:

Furthermore, the airlines supply them. Add the seat-bottom cushion/flotation device and you have a shield and "club" for subduing hijackers armed with "boxcutters." A planeload of passengers armed with nothing more than that could expect to overwhelm a handful of hijackers with that "armament" and then beat their brains out with just about any hard objects whatever.:D

The rotring 600 is even bigger and more solid. That's what I'll be carrying, until the Ti-pen is out.

OK, so the FAA bans all knives. When you get your in-flight meal, and you reach for the cellophane wrapped packet that has your condiments, fork, spoon, and....knife. Albeit they are pretty pitiful knives and do a marginal job of "cutting", how in the heck are we supposed to ingest the rubbery chicken? Gnaw it apart like cavemen (...and cavewomen)???

Chopstix edible food only. Or gruel. We won't notice the difference anyway.
