Among the belts I brought back from Pops to try were several grits of the JFlex scalloped belts for finishing handles. After trying them in the last couple days, I can not overstate how much of a difference they make in finishing handles - especially near concave geometries (like at the butt side of a handle). Used on the slack belt, the belts totally eliminate the "digging in" that a straight edge belt will do. Somewhat more expensive, I think they are a great deal: used for refining and eliminating scratches from coarser belts (i.e. I used them not for roughing out shape, but at 220 and 320 grit), they should not be used extensively on any one knife, and should last through quit a few knives.

My thanks to earlier commenters who have mentioned these belts :)

I just used one for the first time and really like them. As with anything there is a learning curve but they will be a go to handle finishing belt from now on.

I am planning to pick up some of these next order. Anyone use the 1" wide ones and prefer them? The belt place has them too.
