single cellAA

Single AA around 50 lumens? Can't think of any that are right at 50 lumens that are single mode, but here's a few ideas. The ITP A3 comes in two modes: single and upgrade. Single mode puts out roughly 80 while the upgraded has three modes.

Then there's the Fenix L1T V2, which has two modes that can be adjusted by tightening of the head. That way, it only puts out the mode that you would like when you need it. I believe it puts out close to 80 lumens as well.

Third, there's the Icon Rogue 1. This is an interesting light that does put out 50 lumens, but it's a two mode light that switches modes with a half press from the tailcap. This light also has an interesting power saving mechanism. The only trouble with this light is that it has a plastic lens that can get stratched up if you aren't careful, which has happened to me.

Take a look around the candlepowerforums if you would like some guidance. They're a friendly bunch.

Check out the Peak LED Solutions Pacific light. it runs on a single AAA, has 1 output level of 50 lumens and is really good quality. The A3 Eos puts out more, is shorter and also a nice light.

Maybe a NexTorch K2? It does have five modes, however there is no mode memory and the light always comes on in high mode. High mode is 65 lumens. You would twist the head to activate into high mode, and twist to turn off. The other modes will be out of the way if you only use it this way, but still will be available if the need for lower output or strobe/s.o.s. arises.

Nextorch also has a model called myTORCH. It is programmable by a computer (PC supported only at the moment iirc). You can choose the amount of modes - from only 1, to say 15 or 20 - and can choose the output for the mode(s).

EDIT: Offer has been extended to another Bladeforums member, will be mailed out early next week. :)

I was going through my drawer and found one of the first lights I purchased at CPF. It's a single mode light that I do not use so you are more than welcome to it if you like, you would just have to send me your address via pm and it's yours. It's marked Triton P1. It is a single mode clicky, with a almost silent click. Lumens would be roughly more or less what you are looking for, and I'd venture the runtime to be approx. 1 hr-1 1/2, battery is not included ;). I believe the emitter to be a Luxeon I.

If you're just looking for an AA light that doesn't hassle you with cycling through multiple modes, the Nitecore D10 (I think called D11 now) is a great light. Some versions have variable ramping, others have multiple modes but either way, whatever level you set the light on (say 50 lumens) it will stay on that level no matter how many times you rapidly off and on, until you decide to choose a diff. level.

That's one of my biggest gripes with Fenix ld10 and Quark AA's, if you turn them on, off, on to quickly, now you have to cycle through all the modes. What a pain!

pentagon light...if you like a 90 degree head on a flashlight (like the old army angleheads). i like how its simple...no 10 different light modes and 5 other colored LEDs...just on and off top button, and a pocket clip.

+1 On the Pentagon light, I love the versitility of it.

"Highly efficient LED provides up to 40 lumens light output. This shockproof Light offers over 5,000 service hours, making bulb-changing a nuisance of the past. A red filter is included for low-visibility light, useful for map reading and plotting aviation charts. Measures 3 2/5" h., weighs just 1 1/2 ozs"

This is a nice bright light with red lens cover off. The pic I took does not do it justice.

Very nice, rugged, compact light.
