Single mode AA light

I've got a Peak LED solutions Kino Bay, and I like it a lot. Very good light output, and good runtime. But it's just a tad too big for edc in pants pocket let alone keyring. I use a AAA Fenix EO1, and the difference in size is just enough that I prefer the AAA. Light output is still good enough for real world edc, and it's a dream to carry. The Kino Bay is a winter or cool weather jacket pocket light.

How about a Fenix LD15? It's a slim, single AA light and can even be thrown on a keychain. It is a double mode light, however it can act as a single mode light as it turns on to high by default. You then have the added benefit of dropping down to a lower mode should you desire.

THe Gerber Ultra Infinity,1 AA, single mode, bombproof aluminum body, single LED bright enough for most tasks within 10-20 feet, water resistant, runs almost forever , runs on nearly dead batteries and it's cheap.

I carry a crazy bright (300 lumens) single AA battery aluminum body EDC light that has a pocket clip and a tailcap switch. Single on-off mode. Adjustable beam width. Iv'e been running mine with the same battery for a year so far, with hours and hours of use and no loss of power. I would stack this up against any surefire for an edc light. A buddy of mine used his for two weeks camping in the brush as his only portable light source at night (other than the campfire). This little baby is truly amazing.

The best part- $15-

If you'd like to PM or email me I can send you pics.

What brand and model?

Thrill i'm thinking it's that Meritline or Tomtop i've read about. I wouldn't go around telling people it's 300 lumens with AA though as it's a misleading statement. you would need a 14500 to get max output and even then the reported run time is less than an hour at that level. I'll order a few and see how they compare to my other lights. They are cheap enough that I won't care if they quit after a week.

Great point TX180SX....I don't know the lumen output. I do have photos next to my former EDC light, an old school Surefire 6P (non-led). The light on this one is brighter and "whiter" than the Surefire.

I don't know about a make and model Thrill....I can only guess they are made in...ummm. that place..."overseas" : ) A few are marked CREE, a few are marked CITIPOWER, other are unmarked..but all is identical.

Which is why we beat a couple of these into the dirt before deciding to EDC them. While Surefire is still #1 in my book (IMHO) for the price, this little light is great. We even jokingly refer to it as the Ninja light...because it is small, black, and more powerful than one would give it credit for.

I plan on posting in the Classifieds with photos, but if anyone wants pics by email I would be happy to send them right away. Just PM me your email.

If you would stretch your requirements to include 2 AA batteries, then take a look at the Fenix E21 flashlight. It has a low power and high power mode which allows you from 48 to 150 lumens. Fairly cheap on Amazon.com, has a ton of positive reviews and, is solidly made. I keep one of these in my work bag and one near the bed for any nighttime trouble.

Why single mode? I just got a simple Fenix E11 because of the double mode.
105 lumens (1 hour 50 minutes) on high and 32 lumens (8 hours 20 minutes) on low.
With a single AA, you're going to burn that sucker up pretty fast if you have a bright single mode.
