Didn't know where to ask this. I am looking for a single mode white light LED flashlight with decent throw, prefocused, 100 Lumens or brighter flashlight that takes either AA OR AAA batteries for not more than about $50.00
Any suggestions appreciated.

There's a "gadgets and gear" section here. You could also search through candlepowerforums or budgetlightforums.

Sounds like you want a Fenix E21.

White, 150 lum, 2 AA batteries, weather proof, under 50 bucks.

It's a single mode but it also isn't. You turn the light on and off with the back clicking button, but can be switched from low to high with a twist of the head. If you have the head closed all the way, it will always be 150 lum.

Its a popular light & IMO best bang for the buck.

Surefire G2X or 6PX. They both run ~50 dollars, and you'll have the excellent warrantee and solid tough build of Surefire
