I recently acquired a Schrade Walden/N.Y. U.S.A./ 787 Improved Muskrat in used/not abused condition. Blade etch is gone or there never was one (?). It is a single spring. I am hoping that someone will talk about these knives (when, why, etc., etc.). I am going to guess that it might be Codger? Thanks, folks!

The delrin handled single spring muskrats are likely a little older that the double spring version in the same pattern. Any single spring version I've seen has been a Schrade Walden, not a Schrade NY. I own two single spring 787's, both with red delrin handles and square bolsters.

The rounded bolster 787's are a little older yet, and can still be found with delrin handles too. If you find one with bone stag handles, it will likely have round threaded bolsters with a single spring too, but I have seen a few with bone handles and the square bolsters. Waynorth has one of those with a Hawbaker blade assembly that is about as nice of a handled knive as you've ever seen.

The pattern is a nice slim pocket knife.
