Thinking about picking one up. Like the look and want to try lc200n. Read a few reviews and seem pretty positive. Any other contenders i should look at ?

I really like mine. It is my first lc200n knife and the steel was a little over hyped for me but the design and execution of the model is top notch.

I thought about buying one when it was released but decided it was a pass because it just looked like an ordinary utility knife to me and because Spyderco also offers other more attractive knives in LC200N (as well in H1) that I already owned and liked better.

Among the alternatives that I own are the: Autonomy 2, SpydieChef and Jumpmaster (1 & 2) and among those I use to own or never owned are the Pacific Salt, Carribbean and Waterway.

But, that's why Spyderco makes so many knives. If one knife doesn't suit you, another certainly will.

Wait for the pacific salt LC200N.
The Siren has loose lock, you can loosen the lock very easily by just gripping the handle slightly harder.
I had to stiffen the spring but it still wouldn’t get rid of the vertical blade play when gripped hard. It’s not lemon, but more of a design issue.
Lastly the handle is also unnecessarily long, but that’s the designer’s preference.

Love my Siren. As previously stated, if you have a strong hammer grip on the knife the back lock gets slightly depressed (due to the location of the lock). The handle is large. I prefer the Spydiechef for EDC.

That said, it's the smoothest lock back I own and does lock up solid. I picked it up to be a backup camp/water knife that I won't have to worry about rusting.

I like my siren - I use it at the beach and on the water (and sometimes for gardening). I've had zero issues with the lock loosening or opening. I like the size and the worry free nature of the blade steel. The handle is large and rough but works well when you are wet/cold. Works for me.

I love the Siren, alot more then I thought I would. I use it quite a bit, and it's the first (and only) LC200N blade I own. Edge stays sharp with weekly stropping so far (I've used it for about a solid month's worth). It's one of those knives that I like more and more, the longer I have it.

I just use it for daily chores like cardboard, straps, rope, scoring, as an awl, blister packs/packaging. I also carry it at work when I know I'm heading to some of the less attractive parts of the city.

I agree that it's the smoothest backlock I've ever owned(I can close it one handed). Some of, if not the best fit and finish on any USA, Earth Spyderco I've owned. I personally like it being liner less and the fold over black wire clip. I used to think handle was a little long, but the more I use it, I don't think I would want to change anything about it. I also like where the thumb hole is on it too, keeps for a low profile and easy opening. And the deep choil behind the pivot makes for a very comfortable handle, like a Fred Perrin kind of design.

I purchased the Caribbean over the siren simply because I wanted liners.

Are all pretty close contenders.
You can't really go wrong with any of them.

As mentioned above, the spring pressure is very light and you may find yourself accidently pushing down the lock a bit by gripping the knife too tightly. Spyderco should have used a dent here as in other backlock knives before. Its a good EDC knife though but not for hard use. The steels wear resistance is well below Spyderco’s s30v but you can get it sharp quick just by stropping.

I didn’t care for the texture of the G10. Since it’s a knife meant to be used in and around water, it’s pretty abrasive. Not that I was concerned for my hand, but it’ll tear up your pocket.

I’d go with a good old salt series in FRN.
