Remember Simon Hengle - aka "Sirupate" from Tora Kukri in the UK (The other "Sirupate")? He was asked not to post here after: 1) using this forum repeatedly to question HI quality (He also questioned whether Bura is the Royal kami.); and 2) and repeatedly pushing his goods as superior.

Today, he hit new heights on BritishBlades.com by:

1. Claiming Atlanta Cutlery is selling fake antique khukuris (That will be news to some here and at SwordForum.) and damning HI with faint prise.

2. Showing up in another post about what HI model one should buy with his claim (again) that, except for his khuk's (of course) AK's are simply made too thick to work well.

Uncle takes a "philosophical" view of such trollery. The barristers for Atlanta Cutlery may be less forgiving. He's accusing Atlanta of multiple criminal offenses.

Don't you all miss him? ;)

A UK member at British Blades, reading Hengle's post slamming Atlanta, jumped on the issues involving HI in that same post. He summarized story on Hengle's being asked to stop posting about his products here. Also gave the expected -- and well-deserved -- comments on the reputation of HI. :)

I only own one of his knives. It's pretty but not a user. Started bending when I chopped a pine with it. He told me some of his others were thicker but with the shipping I'd rather stick to ones that cost less and that you can actually USE without fear of breaking them.(IE HI or GK)

He must have been around during my absence. I can't decide whether I missed a laugh or a hassle or both.

You know, you'd think a public forum would provide a natural loon correction system. You know, stupid things I and we say are obvious. But trolls and loons keep on going. It is an amazing testament to the human spirit- I guess.

There was a guy in my JR. High who kept saying: "The South Shall Rise Again." He answered many questions in class this way, regardless of subject. He died a few years later of a brain tumor.
But his was tragic- he had a disease. What do these misbegotten people have?

Munk, you probably haven't seen the Goncz thread(s) in GB&U and W&C. They may set some sort of record for angry words: name calling; physical threats; vulgarity. Obviously, some "get off" on rage. One views this stuff with a sort of unsettling fascination -- like staring at a bad car wreck. Much better over here.

Thomas, you said that very well, about the facination. No, I haven't looked in W and C very much, couple dabs looking for a thread. I spent three years in the Civil Liberties forum on About, and it was mean.

A lot of the Web has fallen to the same lot as CB radio.

Pappy, I still can't get it. Like the last guy who was here, kept insisting upon a bizarre version of reality and we should agree with him.

Lost Souls. Yeah, we're all lost souls, but many of us are at least on the path marked: "Home- thataway."

That was me. I've done business with Uncle Bill since 2001 and I wont sit by and have anyone question his good name and reputation.

Bex, perhaps you could enlighten me. Why would the moderator at BB NOT see accusing Altanta of selling fakes as "flaming"?

I honestly dont know Thomas. The accusations regarding Atlanta Cutlery should be substantiated one way or the other. I dont know who is going to do it because I have no expertise in the matter.

Ive just put my opinion on the Atlanta kuks up on thier forum, Im not an"expert" more of a "student of kukris"

There are book writers, historians and such on this forum but, I don't think any one on the HI forum thinks for a minute that they can't learn more about khuks.

I'm getting to be an old man but I still try to learn some thing every day. So, If you are learning on this forum or any where else, I reckon your head is on pretty straight. :)

Hi Pappy,
Yep I love knowledge & try to keep learning, I am 40 years old & in the last 5 years have qualified as a counselor & a college lecturer, After many years ofnot ever putting pen to paper etc. as I wasnt into Education when I was a kid!{well not at school anyway!}

I sent some photos of Atlanta kuks to Simon as well as posting my opinion on the Brit blade forums & he conceded his error & has published an apology to Atlanta Cutlery.

Cheers,
Spiral

Uncle also yesterday ( their time ) signed on to the British Blades forum and simply posted his name and noted the links below his signature.

I signed up there today to check out what was said, but saw his post and relaxed.

After reading more of Simon's posts there I don't feel he's a really bad guy, but he's perhaps just a little too sure of himself. At some point in the future I may do a bit of comparison testing between one of his khuks and HI's; I'll have to get some more warm weather and time off first, not to mention cash!
