Reuters is reporting that Sirus and XM have finalized merger plans. I'm hoping that they keep the best of both worlds.

i thin kthe chance of this happening is far from assured...there are some big regulatory hurdles to overcome

i am not sure it is a good thing....i suspect there will be less programming for more money

As long as Howard and Bubba the Love Sponge are on I will be happy and remain a subscriber!!!

It is true I recieved a email from them yesterday and they will be mergeing at the end of 2007. Opie and Anthony fan here. WOW fan. Howard Stern is a pos.:)

I listen to rock. No talk no pop no rap. XM scratches my itch with crazy deep playlist and nearly zero DJ chatter. So long as this does not change I'll stay a subscriber. At the same time I don't think the powers that be will let this merger happen, the whole "hd radio and ipod are our real competitors" bit won't sway the jury. It would be cool however for these companies to combine bandwidth, cut duplicate channels, and use the excess bandwidth to stream video "in my dreams its adult swim cartoons". Oh well we'll see.

My fear is that the new Sirius/XM will raise the subscription rates.

And for more fun, we'll all have to buy new radios or some stupid sh*t like that.

Sorry, just not in the mood to trust big business at the moment.

Yeah, I worry that now that there is no competition they will raise the rates accross the board and have less interest in providing cutting edge content. Competition is usually the best thing a consumer can have in an industry. now we've lost it> :thumbdn:
