Sis in law's first gator!

My brother and sister in law are in town on leave. She's a captain in the Air Force and is about to be deployed for at least 6 months. We've been packing in the fishing and I got a few gator tags for this week. Last night was her first time going. She bagged a nice eating size 6'2" gator. We got it on a harpoon and she finished it off with a bang stick. She was super excited. We're cooking some this evening at the camp, then heading back out in the swamp to see if we can find a monster.

Got almost 20 lbs of solid meat off this one. I cut out the shoulders, hams, back, tail and around the jaws. Pretty good bit considering the weight of the animal.
 
Whoa man! Tell your sister-in-law that she did real good!

We aint got gator meat here, but this aussie restaurant i know sells crocodile meat...costs a small fortune though! Enjoy your meal!
 
Those bang sticks are no joke...what part of FL are you in fishshooter? I'm over on the west coast, Tampa/Sarasota area.
 
what kind of harpoon do you use? are they the same kind we use up here for bluefin tuna and swordfishing?
