I have been thinking about getting one of these sissipuukko's but I dont want to have to pay the high price in Euros with added intenational shipping. Does anyone know of a source for these knives in the US, maybe some place that imports a bunch?

Rat,

Look at Kellam's page, at Knife Shop - Fixed Blade Knives - Other Lines - and there you have it, Ranger Puuko.

Rat, your penalty for your less than thorough search of Kellam's is that you have to buy one and then post a review :D

Yeah- If I do buy one, I will definitely have to post a review. :D I was looking in vain at all the fixed blades, and I had posted a response before I stumbled onto the right section.
They seem to have about $10 bucks cheaper deal than knifecenter, But I am hoping to find an even better price- but I am not counting on it. Thanks again for the help.

If you buy it from brisa.fi it may be cheaper then from kellam even with shipment etc. It was twice cheaper when I bought it about two year ago.

It was 75 eur and 150 dollars. Now it is 85 eur against 150 - I don't know current rate... But it take 3 weeks to came here from Finland.

Thanks, Vassili.

85 Euros from here is pretty steep. I've seen it as low as 65, usually it's 68-69. But Brisa seems to charge only 10 euros for delivery to the US which is about 20 less than the local mail company actually charges. So it's a fair price looking from there I guess. 95 Euros should come to about 116 USD. I'll agree with Vassili, Brisa should be good to deal with, order from there if you can handle the longer wait. They accept Credit Card, PayPal and wire transfer. Click on the Knives for sale link at their English site.

Unless you want the new plastic sheath instead of the leather one, then you'll have to do some asking around. None of the mentioned retailers seem to stock the other sheath option. I'm of course available to do inquiries with the local shops that have it, if needed.

Thanks guys,
Has anyone experience with the two different sheaths? I dont know if it will make a big difference, but the price from there seems to be worth the wait.
thanks again

Both sheaths should have the same roll lock retention mechanism. So it's just a matter of preference; would you like a more weather and abrasion resistant or a more impact (and possibly cold) resistant sheath. I know at least one retailer here which sells the plastic one separately for 15 Euros, so it might be possible to get both.

I have leather sheath and like it.
I deal with brisa a lot and always have no problems. If you able to make handle youself - they have very good selection of blades - custom blades from Hankala, Progressive tempered blades from Laury (and very cheap - around 10eur), laminated Helle blades. Initially I bought Sissipooko but then just stick with them... Be careful ;)

Thanks, Vassili.

Well, I've ordered the knife, and those prices for knife blades are pretty sweet, but I will have to resist. . . for now. :D
