After using this knife for half a year, I have to say it is a great field knife.

I have used this knife for fire craft.

I have beat it through many branches and saplings used for building shelters.

It worked just fine for carving and fine work.

I even beat it into a tree and stood on it for fun.

There was not one task that I threw at this knife it did not handle. I would not hesitate to recommend this knife.
I think I might get a BK-4 and tackle that next.

i've been thinking about getting a BK-2 but your review has me torn, i wish i had the money to buy both cause then i wouldn't have to choose :D

You can feel confident buying ANY BK&T product. I have: BK2, BK4, BK5, BK7, BK9x2, BK10, BK11x3, BK13x4, BK14, BK15x2, BK16x3, BK17. Not a bad one in the bunch & would trust my life with any one of them.

Either one will serve you well.

That is a lot of Beckers.

Cool video T, good to see the BK-17 be so functional and take such abuse. I waited for them to hit the market for years playing with the protos at Ethan's and trying to make up my mind whether I like the drop point of the clip point most. In the end I settled on the BK-17 because I like a pointy tip to work with. It wasn't until later that I realized why the blade geometry seemed so familiar to me. Kar Bar's 1095CroVan is pretty awesome stuff and they typically do a great heat treat. I haven't had a chance to put mine through any real paces yet, but I really like the way it handles, and it came with a nice edge from the factory. Oh, and if that middle bolt hole bothers you too much a member here that goes by Oregon Fal'er made a set of English walnut scales for the tweeners that does away with the middle bolt hole. Feels really good in hand, and look good too.

I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure he sells them, but these he sent as an unexpected Christmas present in a box of some cool PNW pitch wood :)

Great review on a great knife. Thanks for putting in the time and energy to share with us. Really good stuff.

I'd love to see more reviews in the future, keep it up. Stuff like this is a great benefit to the knife community.

Naw I don't sell them, It's a time vampire (hobby) of mine. I enjoy making them but after I finish up a couple more for a few folks I'm gonna take some time off.

Great review, I am looking to get my new BK-15 out for some good use this weekend.
