Next year, I will spend that extra day at Blade just to have some time to take a few pictures. I did take this one after the ABS dinner Friday evening (BTW, which had some of the best hotel food I have ever eaten. Somebody must have waved a few knives in front of the chefs??). If I knew all six pictured, I would list them, but I need some help. The ABS has their first MS from France to the right of Don Hanson. After Don, there is John White, I'll need help with the tall gentleman, Steve Culver and Jason Knight. Jerry Fisk made the statement at the presentation on the excellent quality of MS test knives this year. Congratulations to all six. Please help me with the two names I am leaving out.

Dons clothes were very nice this year, no stains or holes!

That's why they had to learn how to make knives. Their careers as fashion models just weren't taking off.........:D

Congrats to all......but I must say that while the MS candidates' knives were allspectacular, the JS guys were MUCH more nattily attired;) I think John stole that tie from the French guy....lol

Congrats to all!:D

Keith, Not sure of his name...but that is not Pascal.

Love to see some of the knives that made the grade!

Sorry, guess my post wasn't clear...

"the tall gentleman" is Charles (Charlie) Stout. And yes, I'm sure of it, as Charles' table was right behind mine. :)

Charles is a super nice guy from Gillham Arkansas who makes some very clean knives. Here is a picture of his MS test knives.

Great lighting, Chuck. Smart layout also. Nice.

Congrats to Charlie!

According to the 2007 ABS membership directory there were only two french JS. One is Pascal and the other is Jean-Paul Thevenot.

Keith, I think that Jean-Paul might be who Steven was alluding to in a previous ABS testing thread:

[MS:
Steve Culver
Don Hanson
Jason Knight
John White
Jean Cleaude something or other from France.(sorry, my communication chain is rusty)]

Maybe he can confirm that?

And Don, I don't see your fishing gear in that Florida picture?? ;)

All of the sucessful testers were delighted/relieved after Friday morning, but Mr. Stout seemed the most overwhelmed of the guys that I met. What a terribly nice fellow. He even gave me some pointers on how to attach a buttcap using a method that will guarantee that I have fewer gray hairs than I get using my current methods:D I like that big bowie.
