Certainly not scientific. No actual tests here either. All 5/32. Didn't include the machete. I mostly wanted to show the difference between the Bushfinger and Hunter. Its hard to tell in the sale threads when they are separate. Here ya go...

Yep, in many ways the Bushfinger is like a smaller Hunter, and a very capable hunting knife for sure.

Good comparison newyork.

I think of the Hunter as a stretched Bushfinger (or vice versa). Same general shape, but the Hunter's blade is a little taller and longer, and same with the handle, it's a little longer, and taller as well. Two very comfortable designs. And hard workers.

Haven't cooked with it yet but it seems the taller blade would slice better

I'm not a hunter, so I can't speak to the Hunting capabilities of the Hunter, but it's my most used Fiddleback in the kitchen. It is a good slicer.

Hey Mist, what kind of bush/outdoor tasks do you perform with your Recluse?

Based on those tasks, do you feel that a 1/8" Recluse could handle the job?

Newyork - could you (or anyone) tell me what the two knives are on the left in your last pic?

I like the look of the handle on the Hunter. I've got big mitts.

Hiking Buddy and Kephart.

I'm another big mitts guy. Hunter's handle is nice and tall. Andy also puts out the occasional knife with thicker handles for us guys.

Thurin is correct. I actually have tiny hands and they're all amazingly comfortable. The Kephart I have is definitely a fuller handle than the others with the Bushfinger behind it.

Strig, here's a comparison of a presumably normal sized Bushfinger handle to one that's "extra thick".

Wow guys, thanks. Yeah, thick scales would be a plus. I got a Karda and I can't stop wondering if that was a mistake. Hrm.

I don't think there's ever a mistake with a Fiddleback. I have plenty of "thin" scaled Fiddlebacks and love them. All depends on the purpose. My EDC (Runt, EDKarda, Hiking Buddy) are normal, carvers (Kephart, Arete) are normal, Hunter that I use in the kitchen is normal, my new Woodsman is normal. My 3/16" thick Bushfinger that I beat through anything with a baton and process a bunch of firewood with has thick handles.

Hey guys, did someone say duke? :D I love the duke. Already had one but couldn't pass on a 3/16 model last week. So here is a hunter and two dukes for comparison:

The duke was originally named the "monster-hunter" and I can totally see why. It's essentially a hunter slightly scaled up. Also a sneaky pete in the pic which I believe is about the size of a bushfinger?
