Size DOES matter

Has any consideration ever been given to producing a "medium" Sebenza, about half way between the current large and small? I hate to be too picky but I've owned several of each size over the years and always feel the large is too big and the small is too tiny. I know there is nothing a medium could cut that a large couldn't but we're talking the finest production knife made. Why not have it in what I consider to be the perfect size? Any one else feel this way?

I've often thought about how nice that would be. They're selling the others good enough tho that they probably don't think it's necessary to tool up for a totally different knife.

We go down this road perodicaly.... check the Ti Lock ....

Sorry I wasn't more specific. The closed length is what I'm talking about and the Ti Lock is the same as the small Sebenza.

I don't see the "large" as a particularly large knife to start with. The blade on the large Sebenza or Umnumzaan is sub 4" (actually closer to 3.5") making for what I think most call a medium sized knife, especially by todays standards with some very large folders out there. :)

I feel that way too.
Then I'm glad there is not another variant out there, if you know what I mean.

Probably this comes from too much thinking about the size in general.
When I sit at home comparing small and large Sebies, the small seems perfect.
Outdoors, the large is perfect, since it isn't that large anymore.
Therefore (in theory) a "mid-sized" Sebie looks like the solution, but we all know this will not happen.
...another reason why I'm a big fan of CRK:
This is about knives and not selling stuff.

By the same token, the small Sebenza is really not very small. It's a real workhorse in a comfortable package.

Personally I see no need for a knife intermediate in size between the large and small.

It's all relative. Anything bigger than a Sebenza large is, in my world, huge. Cutting tasks requiring "huge" are best handled by a fixed blade or axe, and not by a monster folder clipped to my pocket.

My small micarta is sufficient for nearly all my cutting needs. The problem is getting it open with my chubby somewhat arthritic hands. I'll be ordering a large plain once I've decided between the various current iterations and am sure I'll learn to live with it just fine. I just feel one in between would be perfect and wondered if others felt the same way. Very few do according to the responses.

A Spyderco Slysz Bowie could fit the bill. Although it isn't a CRK, the F&F is pretty good from what I hear.

It is indeed relative. It's easy for me to say the large isn't large as I have been carrying large CRK folders for years so they have been fully absorbed into me, if you know what I mean ? :p It's always the same though, the large feeling will disappear after a couple of weeks carry and you get shiften up a size notch. :D

I own many Spydercos from Ladybug and Meerkat to Civilian and Military as well as several from other manufacturers. My EDC rotation includes the Forum Native in S110V, plain Jane PM2, D2 PM1, BM 940, BM 531 and my small micarta Sebenza. Most are replacements for the ones I had to sell during hard times 8 years ago. Next up will be the large Sebenza and I was just thinking one about the size of the BM 940 would be perfect.

I owned a few larges back in the day and always felt they were just a bit larger than they needed to be for my purposes. Reckon I'll have to settle for full sized once I decide which model to pick up. I see a nice large with gold Celtic knots pattern on one site that calls my name.

The current large along with a 7 and 3/8s medium with a 6 and 1/4 small would be great. Or just bring back the Umfaan and I'm all smiles. The Estrella fills the "medium gap" for me. Either way, best darn production knives ever to exist.

I agree, small sebenza is near perfect size, but could be a tad bigger.

I think if there was a medium sebenza, I'd only have mediums.

If there was a medium, I would buy it, but only because it would be ironclad justification for owning another Chris Reeve. I really want a micarta insingo, but I have every role filled right now- I need to get robbed or something.
