Since it seems like a slow day I thought I'd ask about some offbrands.I just got the middle knife. It's a Shapleigh, stamped St.Louis,Mo.Bottom is Stagbrand.Top is stamped 333 I think.Thats all I can find on it.Other than size and spacers their very similar. Also the way they added the plastic spacer over the guard on the top two is new to me.Anybody recognize the top knife.I guess the top one is a buddy knife in a two knife sheath but I may be wrong. Thanks Arnold

Arnold,
The top looks like a bird & trout knife. I can't make out the tang stamp.
You are not at all off topic with the Stagbrand. That was one of George Schrade's brands as I recall. LT or Codger can fill you in on the details.

Arnold.
I got the search engine to work and found this post by UH Fan (Debbie who used to work for Schrade). It will give you some history on your Stagbrand.

I hope this helps,
Dale

The Stagbrand hunting knives were made by George when he was in his Bridgeport, CT operation. He made 5 rigid blade knives with the "Stagbrand" tang stamp. They were numbered model #1 through model #5 in order of size of blade length. The one you are describing was model #1, the smallest in the line. They all had nickel silver guard, decorated leather handle and aluminum butt, and they included a tubular embossed sheath. The StagBrand made by George has no relationship to the Imperial Stag. That was just coincidentally the name of our factory in Ireland.

Thanks for the info.I think the Stagbrand is a #3.The top knife, the smallest of the three,is only marked 333 or something close to that.No other markings on the tang.Arnold

Rusty,Codger did a rant on 5/7 on these.Sorry I don't know how to post a link. These are my two 171UHBH.Careful these are addictive.Anyone who wants to handle a great feeling knife should pick up a 171UH.Just leave the 171UHBH for me.Arnold

Sorry I didn't reread it.I did remember your saying you had one.You sent me the # for my records. If I was the only one who liked these life would get boring.Arnold
