Size of Hollow Grind Wheel

Can someone tell me how to figure wheel size vs. blade size. I have the standard Bader 8" wheel and am trying to hollow grind 1 1/2 inch blades (1/8, 5/32). The wheel seems too small...or is it just learner's error?

I have found it very difficult to do a full hollow grind of more than 1 inch with an 8 inch contact wheel. The average blade I have seen ground on one is hollow ground to between 1/2 and 3/4 inch up the blade. It's doable, but a major PITA to get much wider than that.
