Hey all, i'm getting an RC-5 soon, and was wondering what i was getting myself in to:D
So my question is, does anyone have a picture of an RC-5 next to the RC-4 or any other models? or next to anything i can compare size to? I know the blades a bit longer than 5 inches but I'm just looking for a comparison
THANKS!!

I have quite a few shots comparing RATs on Flickr....check them out

i have the rc-5 and it is a huge knife. people told me but i didnt think itd be that bad and it isnt bad by any means but i think i would have been happier with the rc-4. it weighs a pound a bit long. but if your unsure get the rc-5 and if its to much knife get a rc-4, you cant have to many rat cutlery knives ;)

You may want to reinforce your belt loops, and weld a support brace on your belt buckle.

The RC-5 is a heavy brute of a knife. I really can't see it replacing the "bolt knife" for carry by air crews, even though it is a much better knife. It was designed by AF SERE instructors for their use, and they are already on the ground. I like the knife for what it is, a hard core heavy duty survival knife. I think the RC-4 in the jump proof sheath might be a very good substitute for the old pilot's survival knife.

LOL!:p
Thank you everyone! and great pictures so far I cant wait to check the rest of them out! And your right, There never can be enough RATS from what Ive seen!
And thank you horndog, and it sure is a hardcore knife from what i know of!:D

And all, while I have a thread up, can anyone tell me how long the blade is on the HEST? and how long it is all together? Thank you guys!
P.S. sorry for all the questions! but i really cant find any specs on the HEST!

It's getting near my bed time, but I have the HEST and a ruler handy. The blade from plunge line to point is just over 3". Overall length is 7 5/8".

Don't listen to them the Rc5 is readily packable and easy to carry in multiple places. Just be prepared to receive a brute of a knife.

The rc 5 is small and totable. Of course I hike with a 30 bowsaw and fullsize axe.

Yes the rc-5 is a heavy blade, but its not like its going to be a major factor to whether or not you'll be able to finish a 20 mile hike or not. You're talking about +- 11 ounces compared to the rc-4. Its an awesome knife and I bet you'll be extremely happy with your purchase.

It's a beefy blade but is balanced well and is remarkably swift in hand.
