Size of SAK Explorer?

I am thinking of buying a Victorinox Explorer but I am curious as to how thick it is. Does anyone have any good pics or measurements of the thickness of the Explorer? Thanks

I carry one in my pocket everyday. Sometimes I have to pat my pocket to make sure that it's there. It is unobtrusive and as far as I'm concerned has most of the tools that I need on a daily basis.

I posted a couple of pics in the other 'size' thread in the general discussion.

This makes it 4 layers right? I can't seem to find any place that says or has a pic.

TIA

Yep, 4 layers. Here's a photo of one of mine:

Here's a link to the manufacturer's information: http://www.victorinox.com/index.cfm?site=victorinox.ch&page=164&lang=E

Well, I really like 3 layer SAK's, but I am wanting the mag glass so I still need to think on it for a bit.

Is a 4 layer that much bigger in the pocket?

I also prefer the slimmer 3 layer Swiss army knives. When carried in a pocket, I find the difference in bulk is noticeable but tolerable.

If you want a slim SAK with a magnifying glass, you might look for a 2-layer scientist. It's discontinued but I got one from felinevet and they sometimes crop up on ebay.

The Explorer is my favorite SAK, in part because it has a has a phillips that extends 180 degrees like God intended.

Like SupraT, I also feel four layers is a bit much to carry in a pocket... Besides the Scientist, you might also track down a Yeoman, which is a Scientist with a scissor layer. The Yeoman is also discontinued by they do appear from time time on eBay or from FelineVet.

Roger (SwissBianco) recently did a second run of the Yeoman. Tim (FelineVet) may have some of those in stock.

MG_Saldivar and supratentorial, thanks for the info on the scientist and yeoman. It's really hard to keep track of all these SAK's.

on a side note: If anyone knows how to use the SAK finder on SOSAK pm me please. I can't seem to find how to submit my search after i fill out all the requirements. Thanks.

There's no proper 'Submit' button on the SAK Selector. Just hit the 'Select' button at the top left, and you're in business.

Agreed. You're always welcome to ask other SAK nuts for advice, but one good place to learn about the "hot" discontinued (and still-in-production) models is by reading through all the SOSAKOnline articles. If nothing else, you can drool over the pix. :p

Comes in Stay Glo...

was thinking of my Climber when I wrote that - but I know the scales can be swapped.
