Out of general curiosity, is there a way to determine the relative size/capacity of knife makers?
Say, for instance, which company produces more knives per year: Spyderco or Benchmade? Chris Reeve or Hinderer? Buck or Case?

Microtech seems to put out more than [won't say because I'll get a warning!]

Seriously, they do.

Everyday, at my chosen vendor they crowd the 'New Arrivals' page more like starving people at a buffet.

Kershaw and Microtech according to knife center sales.

ZT is owned by Kershaw so lumping them in there.

I'd like to know the size of the US companies that do not outsource to China. That would knock Buck & Kershaw/Kai out of the list. Not trying to stir pots, but I'm thinking the OP meant that in his original post. Spyderco has a line made in China, but it's called Byrd, so that really doesn't count.

By volume, I'd guess Gerber would be in the Top 10, likely with GSM Outdoors too (SOG, ColdSteel, Camillus).

Correction: Gerber is owned by Fiskars, a Finnish company.
Another edit: How about Leatherman?

Some Spyderco models are made in China.

not sure any large maker doesn't have a Chinese or other country made imports in their line. maybe some of the smaller makers. even microtech had some Chinese made models.

speaking on Buck they have said in the past they do it to fulfill big box stores wanted price points, that they can't hit being made in the usa.

Plenty of Spyderco label are in fact made in Taiwan or China .

Another US-based maker for the top 10: Cutco. Ka-Bar and OKC might be in there too, based on contracts with the US government.
