So in my quest for a knife with the best size to weight ratio I've come upon the below listed figures.

What does everyone here think is the best knife that offers an equal amount of blade length, thickness, durability, and weight? This list is for FYI only. Feel free to suggest something not on this list.

- BRKT Bravo I 4.250 Inch Blade / 7.375 Ounces / .215" Thick

- Chris Reeve Mountainer I 4 Inch Blade / 5.50 Ounces / .177" Thick

- Chris Reeve Shadow III 4 Inch Blade / 6 Ounces / .177" Thick

- Ranger Puukko M95 6 Inch Blade / 7.727 Ounces / .196" Thick

- Ka-Bar USMC 7 Inch Blade / 8.5 Ounces / .156" Thick

bravo-1 apears to be the best that you have mentioned, and that is probably what you will hear from most people on the forums. i dont have any expirience with any chris reeves knives, so i cannot give an opinion on them. the ranger, at 5 mm thick, seems like it might be too thick for my tastes. the ka-bar isnt very durable during batoning, and, to me, dosent seem like a useful outdoors knife plus it is also a bit longer than needed. you should probably add a fallkniven f-1 to your list as they are sharp, extremely durable and hold a good edge because of the laminated steel. the bark river aurora is extremely light and an excellent knife from what i have heard and read. the mora craftman is very light weight, durable and obviously cheap, plus it comes in several steels.

i dont really understand your question though. are you basically looking for a knife recommendation? if so, be sure to check some other threads around here.

A couple others:

Bark River Aurora: A2 steel, blade length 4.500", OA length 9.500", thickness 0.170" , 6.000oz

Bark River Fox River: A2 Steel, blade length 4.250" , OA length 8.250" , thickness 0.170", 5.625oz

Hey Bro!! Bravo-1 gets my vote. I really dig mine, think its a great combo of blade length, thickness and weight.

I have these two from Bark River. They have both held up very well to any of the tasks I've thrown at them (including batonning through some seasoned maple)
