Size/Weight Difference between SAK Fieldmaster and Super Tinker

Does anyone have firsthand experience... and better yet pics... so I can get a better feel for the difference between a SAK Fieldmaster and a Super Tinker for EDC pocket carry?

The numbers themselves sure don't make them far apart. But that is sometimes misleading and a little bit of width or weight can add up.

I know it boils down to the saw. While I want this for EDC carry at the office, we live on a little bit of acreage and I use my saw often on larger SAKs and Leathermans I carry nights and weekends. I could envision myself stepping out of the car and wanting to prune something back quick on the way into the house... so a saw could come in handy every now and then (not terribly often)... but I don't want to sacrifice something easy to carry for that off chance. So if it's basically free for all intents and purposes, a saw might be handy.

Thanks for your help.

I'd say get a Super Tinker and buy yourself a Bahco 396 Laplander Folding Saw with an 8 inch blade.

No problem, I've added a link in my previous post, the OHT has a blade with a liner lock.

I really love my Fieldmaster, you cannot go wrong with it. I've been wanting to get myself a Super Tinker for awhile now. Just to have one less layer, without the saw. But here in Canada the Super Tinker costs more than I bought the Fieldmaster for. Anyway, if you get yourself a Victorinox Cordura Belt Pouch (33214) and carry the Fieldmaster on a belt instead of the pocket, then your not gonna notice the weight or bulkiness at all. Not like it is heavy or bulky, but compared with the Super Tinker it will use up just a little bit more real estate.

Here's the Fieldmaster next to a Farmer, I had taken this shot back in March 2014.

Get either the Camper or Hiker.. You will have the saw but no scissors but its slimmer than the Super Tinker.

Good to hear MeanStreaker, as for the Laplander...do you keep yours in anything?. I ordered myself a Corona AC 4510 Nylon Scabbard for mine, it's suppose to fit the 396 well.

How about just getting a decent folding saw (Opinel makes a great one, according to jackknife), and keeping it in the glove box of the car?

Glad you like it SAK Guy...I was rolling up the saw in a bandanna, prior to getting the pouch.

I'm sorry but I just don't see what the big deal about EDCing a Fieldmaster is. I've tried and I can easily fit mine into the watch/change pocket on my jeans.

Hell, I EDC this bad boy, the Fieldmaster just isn't enough for me, weight is not an issue. :p :D
