A new SJ TAC made it to my house in Alabama and was met by the big brother Busse of the house, a green and tan HOGFSH. The greens are a little different and the SJ's canvas handles were slightly lighter. I do prefer the SH's finish to the SJ. The green on the SJ seems a lot brighter and a bit more shiny. I'm also not sure what to think about the ridges in the blade. Wonder if this is the green we'll be seeing from now on or if the green on the SH is the one????

In any case, the size, shape and weight of the SJ is fantastic. It's a natural for my hands and I can see this knife being my constant companion.

Here's a picture of the two together on my butcher block table I made in high school (red oak, padouk, black walnut and purple heart woods).

With flash, to show the color difference

The logo on the SJ is different than on the SH.

I'm down Tigertown way.......

I'd love to make it to BJCC for the show, but I just had my wisdom teeth yanked and I don't think I should be driving with the pain medicine they're giving me. I could always convince my wife to drive me :D But then again, I can't ever leave that place without dropping a bunch of cash

We'll see :p

Edited to add "Thanks guys" :D

it's always good to meet with neighboring HOGS :D

Killer pics! The particular FSH that you have, has a desert Tan undercoat with the olive drab overcoat. . . We did them like that for some military orders so that the tan would be exposed with wear. . . that's how they wanted them! The SJTac is the current OD that we are using.

The standard FSHs were the first Busse blades to show the ridges. . . the SJTacs are the second blades to have these ridges. They have proven to be quite the performance enhancers!!! They reduce friction when cutting and add strength to the blade. Making our knives this way is MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!!!! The CNC machining process takes approx. 5 times as long and costs about 20 times as much in tooling. The very fine ridges that are seen in both the FSH and the SJTac are the predecessors of the much deeper and wider ridges found in the heavy corrugated bevels that will be found on the Pork Belly Skinner and the Hell Razor!

Congrats WoodHog! Killer pics!!!!

Nice looking knives and great photos - thanks! The tan handle and green blade is a cool combo!

Quite nice. Green is my favorite color and yet I have not one Busse in Green. :thumbdn:

These make me wish I had ordered some in green.

Thanks for the info Jerry. I was curious about the coating on my HOGFSH. I wonder how many went out the door with that finish  ????? I think you should offer it as a standard option :D ;)

I'd be curious to see a photo of an uncoated blade showing the corrugations.

Thanks again guys for the compliments.
