Thought you guys might like to hear about the hard use I put my SJ to this past weekend.Backpacked a favorite 24 mile trip we always do every other month and got to really use and almost as important to carry the SJ along with 3 days worth of equipment on our backs.I was very pleased with the kydex sheath I received from Busse. The great features of this sheath are very adept to the backpacker.Xample, with your padded belt on the pack it is very comfortable on the edge of your hip,Also the rigidity of the sheath allows ease of withdrawl and resheathing because the sheath does not give or bend like leather does.It rides high handled just above your belt perfectly. The sheath also has a large enough hole in the bottom to allow sand and debris to fall thru without clogging up the sheath and making it easier to clean. The Tek lok on the back is great for moving it around on your gear as well, while allowing for quick removal. Now about the knife, really enjoyed the large coil in front of talon hole for choke up work on that stick by the fire.Something I found my self surprised by was how much I began to appreciate that handle, which at first I did not like due to its length. That handle saved my A@$# ,well kind of in that it allowed more reach for chopping and briar slashing for a small blade.I chopped around a half mile of saplings and laurel thickets while on my stomach crawling dragging my pack(I am not kidding)The blade showed very little sign of dulling at all.The handle is worth its length!Regreted leaving machete at home to shave weight at first but later laughed at doughting the ferocious Jackyl!
