SJ TAC -vs- BA TAC

From what I can tell the only difference between the SJ TACs and the BA TACs is blade length. 1 inch I think? Other than size preference will there be any performance differences between the two? I already have a SJT I really like but do not usually double up on knives of similar attributes/functions. Thanks. :)

Sorry, I just love the above post I made in another thread. :D That and I have a mild case of ADD, OCD and Dyslexia :o

I think they are pretty much the same other than the extra inch.

An inch in this range makes a huge difference though, IMO.

Hey KAAK and Mark, are ya'll going to do this to all post:D

I love the pig race shot:thumbup: Mark, I feel dumb, but I don't read spanish at all. Don't make me look that up please, what in the heck does it say ???

Come to think of it my 11 year old daughter can just tell me, think it might say please take a number?

Wow- that's what she said!

Sorry, just couldn't resist

I'm growing to appreciate smaller blades more and more.
I've outgrown my "Rambo" stage (yeah, right.....) of knife collecting, and I really think the Badger is going to be a better beater than the jack. You wouldn't have caught me saying this even one year ago, but you can get better leverage (for some things) and do finer work with a smaller blade.

I think magnum handles will make a big difference, and that my SJTAC will probably get much less use once I’ve got a similar knife with thicker handles.

Tyrkon,
That's exactly what I was thinking. I have a SL tac, therefore, do not need a BA tac. So I went ahead and ordered a Dog Father from the other Busse. Not changing loyalties, just taking advantage of the current situation, limited funds make for hard decisions.

Great minds think alike.

I would say there is almost no difference as well ...but there is one reason to get the badger even still. I would say the inch difference is a crucial one. I would consider the SJTAC is the ultimate light single field carry and the Badger is perfect heavy EDC (backpack, briefcase, glove box etc) AND is a size better suited as a companion knife to a blade like a Steel Heart or Battle Mistress. It IS almost the same knife, but I see it's utility a little differently.

I'm catching up on old threads after my enforced absence. Other than the blade length, there will also be the main grinds. The HOGSJTLE was full convex. The HOGBATACLE is full flat.

I ordered the Badger LE, and sent my SJ TAC to a formulite in the Yukon.
I am sure he will use it more than I!

I thought the Jack had a wider blade. Don't know how much life has changed from the Blade '03 protos, though, or how much my memory has failed.

Edit - Memory is failing. If there's a width difference it's not huge. See BadMojo, photo B11 from Blade 2003. BATAC on the left, SJTAC in the middle. Some warty looking thing that hasn't been released yet on the right. http://homepage.mac.com/zombiekiller/badmojo/blade03.html

The blade tip of the BATAC LE looks a littler more bellier compared to the the BATAC CG and SJTAC.
