SJTAC after SERE

I know that everyone likes to see pictures of well-used Busses, so here's the SJTAC that I gave to my son to take to Afghanistan a few years ago. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1110928-SJTAC-in-Aghanistan It served him well "over there", and he just finished up putting it to work at the US Army SERE School out at Camp Mackall, NC. As you can see, he did some chopping and batonning with it during the Survival and Evasion phases of the course. He also did some pounding on stuff with the butt. The handle still smells of wood smoke! It served him well, as expected, and draws quite few comments from his fellow students.

David Brown, the sheath is continuing to do a great job! He removed the Tec-Lok to secure it to his plate carrier in A-stan, and misplaced it in his bags-o-stuff, hence the 550 cord tie down. I'll give him a couple of Molle loks to hang it on his vest.

Due to the nature of the course, there are no pics of it in use. You all understand... So, anyway, enjoy!

That is awesome. I am glad that it served him well. Tell him thanks for the service.

Nice that they let him bring his own knife to SERE. When I went through we all had to use the AF Survival Knife, no personnel knives allowed.

Good to hear that he made it through all that OK. There's too many stories that don't end up that way.

Thank Him for me please?

Wow, you must have gone through a while ago! I did it in '01 and instructed out there in late '04 through '05 and it's been "bring your own knife" all that time. I remember as a young Paratrooper how cool we thought the Jumpmasters were because they were issued the AF survival knife. ?!?!

I instructed out there in 1981 and the fine LTC in charge told us to bring the tool of our choice;) That's when I decided to get the best tool I could afford and settled on Busse years later as they have never failed me. Sent a SJTAC to Afg a long time ago to another trooper with the same results. Damn things are tough.
Congrats to your son. It's a heck of a good course that you can carry with you the rest of your life.

That's great to hear how well it has served him, I remember reading about it back when you first gave it to him. SJTac is a sweet edc for a military guy.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad your son had a knife he could depend on regardless of the task. Tell him we said "thank you", that his service is much appreciated.
