SK5 steel for large bowies?

Yes, I picked up a NIB SK5 tigershark. It's something I've been meaning to do since they switched to AUS 6.

Best I can tell it is a spring steel similar to W1 or W2. Cold steel calls it "medium carbon" steel in their spears and other toys.

It takes a good edge, looks good etc. Does anybody remember how it did in the edge holding, toughness etc. departments?

I've loved this knife for decades and finally got one. Now, should I keep it in the box looking pretty and use my becker or will the old girl still work for a living?

I know what my answer is but I'd like to hear some other, more experienced ones. Thanks, Joe
