Just recieved my Recon bowie with a carbon steel blade.I was wondering what other carbon steel SK-5 steel is compared to? (maybe 1095?)I am almost afraid to ask.The last time I asked about the AUS-6 steel in my Seal 2000 on the forum I was told by a steel snob it was not much better than Pakistani pot steel. It don't matter though, I still love the knife. Thanks ,PJ

yeah , well different people has different opinions on what is a good steel and what is a shite steel.

Yes they do have opinions. Proof is in the using. If people would get out there and live with their knives, then their steel would be better tested. I choose the revolver as my knife. AUS-8, eh?

PJ, I don't know what steels to compair SK5 to, but I know it does good enough for me. My SK-5 Tigershark has been holding up great since I got it a while ago. As a cleaver it's great, and also held up well on a campout for gathering wood. :) Wish SOG would make more knives in that steel.
